At Nobel Courses, children do not just learn about technology. They get to build it, programme it and see their ideas come to life.

One of the ways we bring coding to life is through drones. During a recent robotics lesson in Birkirkara, students had the opportunity to programme and control drones, giving them a different way to experience coding and see what their instructions can do in the real world.

Learning to Code Through Flight

Coding can sometimes feel abstract when it is taught only through a screen. Children may write a piece of code and see a result on their computer, but it can be difficult to understand how those instructions connect to the world around them.

Drones offer a different experience. When students programme a drone, their code directly affects something that moves through real space. They can see their instructions in action as the drone takes off, changes direction or completes a task. This gives children a more immediate connection between the code they write and the outcome it produces.

It also encourages them to think carefully about the order of their instructions. If something does not happen as expected, they have to look at what they programmed, identify what went wrong and make changes.

This makes drones more than just an exciting piece of technology. They become another way for children to practise coding, logical thinking and problem solving while working with something they can actually see and control.

For children who enjoy seeing technology in action, this can make the process of learning to code feel much more engaging. Instead of simply writing instructions on a screen, they get to use those instructions to control something in the physical world.

More Than Just Drones

Drones are one part of the wider Robotics Programme at Nobel Courses. The three month programme is designed for children aged 8 to 13 and gives them the opportunity to explore different areas of technology through practical, hands on activities.

Throughout the course, students work with real robotics kits, learning how to build and programme robots while exploring how their creations respond to different instructions and inputs.

They also explore 3D printing, where they can design their own creations and see them produced layer by layer. Engineering challenges give students opportunities to design, build and solve practical problems, while circuits and electronics introduce them to how different components work together.

The programme also includes virtual reality and other STEM activities, giving children exposure to a range of technologies rather than focusing on just one area.

Drones add another dimension to this experience. By programming something that moves through real space, students can approach coding from a different perspective and begin to understand how programming can be used to control physical technology.

The focus throughout the programme is on learning by doing. Children are encouraged to build, test, experiment and make changes rather than simply learning about technology in theory.

A Hands On Introduction to Technology

The Robotics Programme is designed to give children a broad introduction to technology while helping them develop practical skills along the way.

Students do not need previous robotics or coding experience to join. Concepts are introduced step by step, allowing beginners to build their confidence while working on practical projects and challenges.

Whether a child becomes particularly interested in robotics, coding, drones, 3D printing, engineering or another area of STEM, the aim is to give them the opportunity to explore how technology works and, importantly, to create with it themselves.

October 2026 Robotics Programme

Applications are now open for the next Robotics Programme, starting during the week of 19th October 2026 in Birkirkara.

The programme runs for three months, with one one hour lesson each week. The exact starting date depends on the day of the week selected when registering.

The course is suitable for children aged 8 to 13 and is designed for both beginners and children who already have an interest in technology.

Applications are now open, with limited places available.
