This summer, Nobel Courses Malta teamed up with Funsize Heroes once again to bring hands on robotics and coding activities to their summer programme.
Funsize Heroes gives children the opportunity to explore a wide range of activities throughout the summer, from sports and creative activities to STEM and technology. As part of this year’s programme, Nobel Courses joined them to introduce children to robotics, coding and engineering through practical lessons where they could build, experiment and create.
Getting Hands On with Robotics
During the robotics sessions, children had the opportunity to work with real robotics kits and explore how robots are built, programmed and tested.
Rather than simply learning about robotics, the children were able to get involved from the start. They built their own robots, worked with circuits and experimented with different ways of making their creations move and respond.
The sessions also included coding activities, giving the children the chance to see how the instructions they created could affect what their robots actually did. This hands on approach is at the heart of our Robotics programme at Nobel Courses, where children learn by building, testing and solving problems for themselves.
And, of course, there was plenty of room for a bit of friendly competition. In one of the sessions, the children put their robots to the test through races and challenges, seeing how well their creations could perform and learning that testing and making changes is just as important as the initial build.


Introducing Younger Children to Robotics
The collaboration also gave younger children the chance to explore technology through Junior Robotics.
These sessions were designed around age appropriate activities that introduced children to the basic ideas behind coding, engineering and robotics in a fun and accessible way.
Children explored Scratch and had the opportunity to create their own simple programmes. They also tried unplugged coding activities, where they could learn basic programming logic through games and activities without needing a computer.
The children also experimented with circuit building and had the chance to build their own robots. Each activity gave them an opportunity to create something themselves, see what happened and make changes along the way.
For young children, these experiences can be a great way to discover that technology is not just something they use. It is something they can understand, build and create themselves.

Learning Through Making
One of the things we enjoy most about bringing our courses into summer programmes is seeing how quickly children become engaged when they can work with technology themselves.
A robot that moves, a circuit that lights up or a programme that does exactly what a child asked it to do can turn an abstract idea into something they can see and understand.
That is what made our collaboration with Funsize Heroes such a great opportunity. Children of different ages were able to explore technology at their own level, while building confidence through creativity, experimentation and problem solving.
We are grateful to the Funsize Heroes team for welcoming Nobel Courses back into their summer programme and giving so many children the opportunity to discover robotics and coding.
